MEDIASTUDIO presents the digital portal dedicated to the memory of the "Pietre d'Inciampo"

Once again this year, the Municipality of Pordenone is offering a rich program of initiatives for Holocaust Remembrance Day, which is celebrated on 27 January in memory of the victims of the Holocaust. Ceremonies, exhibitions, guided tours and school activities will enliven the city until February (from 22/01/2026 to 03/02/2026).

On Tuesday 27th, the day begins at 9:30 am with the laying of wreaths at the Monument to the Deportees in Piazza Maestri del Lavoro and immediately afterwards, in the courtyard of the former Province in Corso Garibaldi, a simple gesture that connects us to the past, before we immerse ourselves in the show (at 11:00 am) "Qui era. Qui è." (It was here. It is here.) at the Teatro Verdi: students from the Liceo Leopardi Majorana will give voice to the lives behind the city's Stolpersteine (stumbling stones), with an evening repeat performance open to the public.

In the afternoon, “Ritratto di una città in pezzi” (Portrait of a city in pieces) offers an itinerary for citizens, from Via Montereale to the “Casermette” in Via Molinari, from the Albergo Moderno to the prison, to the stones scattered throughout the city centre. An audio guide accompanies participants through the stories of 80 years ago, making the journey an emotional immersion into the memory of Pordenone.

School initiatives.
The new generations are at the centre with targeted initiatives. On Wednesday 28th, at the former Convent of St. Francis, the Philharmonic Association presents “La valigia dei disegni” (The Suitcase of Drawings), dedicated to Friedl Dicker-Brandeis: in the hell of Theresienstadt, she saved almost 5.000 children's drawings as acts of freedom before her deportation to Auschwitz – works now on display at the Jewish Museum in Prague.
On Thursday 29th, at Cinemazero, two screenings for students are already sold out: “Il bene più prezioso” (The Most Precious Thing) by Michel Hazanavicius, an animated film about a peasant couple who save a Jewish baby during the Shoah; and “Elena del Ghetto” (Elena of the Ghetto) by Cinzia TH Torrini, based on the true story of a Jewish girl in Rome under the Nazis. On 3 February, in the Sala Degan, “Adotta una pietra” (Adopt a Stone) will award primary and lower secondary schools with certificates for the adoption of Stolpersteine, while from 19 to 30 January, at the State Archives, the workshop '... più tedesco dei tedeschi' (more German than the Germans) for secondary schools will examine documents on the expropriation of the property of the Morpurgo de Nilma Jewish family, who lived in the Pordenone area.

Additional activities between January and February are promoted and organised by ANED in collaboration with the Municipality.

The programme is rounded off with significant guided tours: virtual tours on Zoom to Auschwitz and Birkenau; for teachers, to the Italian Memorial in Auschwitz (now in Gavinana, Florence) and educational trips to Trieste, the Risiera di San Sabba and other significant places in the regional capital.

MEDIASTUDIO presents www.pietredinciampo.com, the digital portal dedicated to the memory of the ‘Pietre d'Inciampo’.

On Friday 30 January at 11:00 a.m., in the Sala Degan of the Pordenone Public Library, the new dynamic and responsive web portal “Pietre d’Inciampo” will be officially presented. It was designed to recount and promote the stones present in the municipalities of Pordenone and Ronchi dei Legionari. Curated by MEDIASTUDIO with the patronage of the Municipality of Pordenone and the Municipality of Ronchi dei Legionari, with active research and collaboration carried out by the students of the Leopardi Majorana High School, ANED of Pordenone and Ronchi, this project represents a step forward in preserving “historical memory” as the first digital website in the region dedicated to “Pietre d’inciampo”, which will be open to welcoming other municipalities and towns in the area in the future.

The press conference will be attended:

  • the Councillor for Education of the Municipality of Pordenone - Pietro Tropeano;
  • the Mayor of the Municipality of Ronchi dei Legionari - Mauro Benvenuto;
  • the President of ANED - Patrizia Del Col;
  • the Headmistress of the Leopardi Majorana High School - Prof. Rossana Viola;
  • Milvio Zaccariotto ceo MEDIASTUDIO .

Also present will be: Silvia Pettarin, teacher at the Leopardi Majorana High School; Monica Carta, Councillor for Culture of Ronchi dei Legionari; Federica Bon, Municipal Councillor of Ronchi dei Legionari; Libero Tardivo, President of the Ronchi dei Legionari branch of ANED, the President of the cultural association Leali delle Notizie Luca Perrino, the director of the State Archives Silvia Rago and an official, the Headmistress of the IC Pordenone Torre school, some relatives of those to whom the Stumbling Stones are dedicated and some classes of students from the Leopardi Majorana High School accompanied by their teachers.

In Pordenone, 29 stones have been laid since 2020 thanks to the research carried out by students at the Leopardi Majorana High School, who drew on the municipal historical archives. In Ronchi dei Legionari – the epicentre of the Italian Resistance – there are 43 stones, laid between 2019 and 2025. The event is open to all and will offer a preview of this innovative tool for discovering “the names”, life stories, deportation and resilience.

Finally, until 31 January, the Civic Library is hosting the free exhibition “Testimoni Giudici Spettatori. Il processo della Risiera di San Sabba Trieste 1976”. The exhibition retraces the Risiera trial, reporting the testimonies and highlighting the responsibilities of Nazi persecution on the Adriatic coast.
